A Step Back…and Forward

Hello 🙂

While I have written on a few stories during the first half of the year, I will admit they didn’t get far. Not because I didn’t like them, and not because I wasn’t excited to finish them, but because I was more burned out from so many releases last year than I realized. Claimed by the Wolf  has been the only release this year, and I feel so bad about that for my readers. But, I truly needed to step back and breathe and let the stories come to me when they wanted to. I could not force words onto the page because as excited as I was to write the ideas I had, I was tired.

And that break paid off.

This past Saturday, I wrote a solid 2k on a new story. Then, on Sunday, I wrote more, and today I plan on writing more…after I’ve had dinner 🙂 I’m very excited about this story, and I hope to have it release October/November. The story is set in the Revenant Investigations world, and stars Arabella and Lucas working on an investigation. Just the two of them.

What could our medium and the skeptic be up to this time…

This new story feels like a short story, or a short novella. It’s also the lead-in to a new book with a new character coming to town. The story is meant to be a fun, spooky mystery, and if I had another full day off from work I’d probably get it close to done or completed.

As many of you already know, I write under two pen names. Libby is my romance name. October Weeks is my dark paranormal/horror/dark fantasy pen name. I always have stories going on both sides, and my darker stuff took a front seat because those stories were, and still are, flowing. Now my romance writing is flowing again and I couldn’t be happier!

Sometimes a break can really refresh the well, and I’m glad I took the break. In that time, I also came to the hard realization that some of the series I wanted to continue have to be let alone. I have the first chapter of the sequel of Son of Thunder written, but it won’t be finished. At least, not in the near future. Why? Because Son of Thunder didn’t sell well enough to justify continuing what I was planning on becoming a series. I apologize to those who loved the book- that means the world to me- but I cannot waste energy on a series that isn’t going anywhere right now. I also had plans to write a sequel to An Island Christmas, but that won’t be happening anytime soon, either. I hope to come back to those series at some point, but for now they are on the back burner.

I hope you will all bear with me a little longer and be patient- good things are on the way 🙂 I hope to have news soon!

Stormy Tuesday

It’s a stormy Tuesday here, so I thought it appropriate to highlight Son of Thunder 🙂 Given how Rune is the grandson of Thor and all.

Amazon US – Amazon UK – Amazon CA – Barnes and Noble – iTunes – Kobo – Entangled Publishing

Blurb:

Rune is the grandson of Thor, and just as strong. Exiled to the realm of Earth for nearly killing his brother–it was a little misunderstanding– he has to find a way to redeem himself so he can get back to Asgard. And when he lands—literally—in the bed of a fiery redhead with an FBI badge, he realizes that she may be the key to going home. But helping Liv hunt a killer has one big consequence—chemistry. He can’t keep his hands off her, and there’s no way they can ever be together.

Six years ago, FBI Special Agent Liv Winter’s best friend was murdered. Since then, she’s taken a two-week vacation around the anniversary of the death to try and solve the case. She’s used every available resource. Yet, her friend’s killer is still on the loose. She refuses to give up—willing to do almost anything to bring the person to justice.

Apparently, almost anything includes trusting a god. And while she might need Rune’s help with her case, there’s no way she’ll ever trust him with her heart.

“Hey, Good Lookin’” by Hank Williams greeted Katee Ellis as she woke. Her head pounded, and her mouth was dry as if she had the worst hangover ever. Yet, she couldn’t recall drinking the night before.

As her eyes cleared, she realized she didn’t recognize the ceiling, its chipped and peeling paint. She sat straight up, her head swimming as nausea swept her from the movement. Placing her hands on both sides of her head, sinking them into her hair, she closed her eyes and tried to take deep breaths. When the nausea faded away, she opened her eyes, and then she realized she was completely naked.

What the hell?

She quickly pulled a sheet up and held it at her breasts, trying to figure out how the hell she’d gotten into a rumpled bed in a worn down bedroom.

Hank continued to sing as heavy steps from outside the room caught her attention—she inhaled, scenting the wild. Wait. She inhaled again. Shock coursed through her when she realized she could smell everything around her—the old wood, the man coming toward the room, the cool mid-autumn breeze coming through the barely opened window.

Her heart skipped a beat, and then sped up as panic began to take hold. She dug for a memory to tell her how she’d gotten where she was, but nothing came, which alarmed her more. Through shapeshifting friends she knew what the situation could mean … and she tried her damnedest to calm down, to shove the panic down as her blood pounding in her ears blocked out all other noise.

What the hell happened to me?

“Here, this should help.” The man’s voice was deep, with a British lilt. The sound snapped her back to reality.

She held the blanket closer, tighter.

She looked over slowly, pushing her long, dark red hair out of her eyes. Her gaze settled on a tall, lithe, muscled man. His thermal, long-sleeved shirt clung nicely to his torso. Her sharp vision could plainly see that strong arms were hidden underneath the fabric.

He stepped closer to her, holding out a mug to her. After holding his dark blue gaze for a moment, she reached out and took it. The heat from it felt good as it spread beneath the skin of her hand. Coffee.

As the man moved to the desk and grasped a chair in one hand, she inhaled the scent of the beverage. Heaven. Taking a sip, she tasted the slight bite of whisky, which made her smile softly.

“A little hair of the dog never hurt.” He returned her smile as he set the chair down and took a seat, running a hand through his hair before leaning forward and resting his elbows on his thighs.

Flashback Friday: An Island Christmas

Ah. The first, and only, non-paranormal romance I’ve written to date 🙂 One of my favorite stories, and the first I published with Evernight.

AMAZON ~ BARNES AND NOBLE ~ KOBO

BLURB:

After Blue Malone and her best friend are forced to cancel their Christmas vacation plans, their boss offers them the keys to his private island home in the Caribbean. The island home is gorgeous, and Blue can’t wait to relax and explore the lush surroundings.

Though, they are not alone on the island. Constant Abbett, the son of her boss, is a part-time resident of the island and is currently there on break from work. Blue has been attracted to him for years, since they met seven years ago, but she’s never voiced that attraction, for fear of him not wanting her back. She doesn’t want to ruin a great friendship. But with him so close, and the attraction to him growing by the minute as they spend time together, Blue knows she can’t hold her feelings back. She can only hope he feels the same way.

EXCERPT:

Blue woke early the next morning, wanting to watch the sunrise, as Kristopher and his family talked often about the beauty of it. After making herself some coffee, she walked out to the boat dock, standing at the end. One boat was docked to the right of her—a nice one but not screaming ‘I’m rich!’. Blue, and Sherilyn, loved the water and loved to fish, so she could greatly appreciate the boat.

She had a fleeting thought of taking it out for a spin to go fishing, but she hadn’t asked permission for that, so the thought really was fleeting.

The sky was just hinting with color, and a warm breeze caressed her skin, as she was wearing her pajama shorts and tank top.

“Good morning.”

Blue jumped a little, almost spilling some of her coffee at the male voice. Turning, she saw Constant walking toward her. “Constant Abbett,” she chided, “you startled me.”

“My apologies.” He smiled—blessed with the cutest, sexiest dimples she’d ever seen—and gave her a hug when he reached her.

“Welcome to the island.”

She returned his smile. “Thanks, and good morning to you.”

“You seemed in the moment, taking in the ocean, so I announced myself halfway to you so I wouldn’t startle you.” He
clucked. “Guess that didn’t work.”

“Nope.” She took a sip of coffee. “But I appreciate the effort.”

“Thought you would.” He winked.

Blue tried her damnedest to not look at his bare torso and arms. He was lean and strong, which she knew was due to his job. Constant built extreme treehouses all around the world, and his body certainly agreed with his occupation. She wouldn’t deny she’d been attracted to him since the day they met, but hadn’t voiced or acted upon it because she wasn’t certain he felt the same way.

She was no prude, but she really cared for Constant and didn’t want to ruin the friendship they had. When his blue-green eyes turned to the ocean shortly after his wink, she remembered the reason she was on the dock in the first
place. She turned forward again, not wanting to miss the sunrise. Her body had wanted to stay in bed, as Sherilyn had, but she wanted to experience the sunrise more so…

“I love watching the sun come up here,” he said, only a few inches away. “It never gets old. Always beautiful, mesmerizing.”

She smiled, gaze on the amazing colors awakening in front of her. “You sound like your father.”

He chuckled. “We’re a lot alike in some ways.”

The rising sun mesmerized her as it spread across the ocean and came onto the island, so breathtaking and beautiful—she couldn’t look away.

“Wish I brought my camera,” she whispered.

“You’ll have six more chances while you’re here,” he replied in a hushed tone. “I take it you found everything in the kitchen okay?”

She cleared her throat, turning to face him, tearing away from the tropical sea and sun. “Yes. It’s an amazing house, and the pictures I’ve seen don’t do it justice. Your mom did a fantastic job creating the perfect relaxing getaway.”

Pride lit in his eyes. “That she did.”

“Your treehouse looks amazing, too, by the way. I barely noticed it was there.”

“As you know, it took two years to finish because of my other jobs, but it was worth it. I’d be happy to show you and Sheri.”

“I’d like that. I know Sheri will as well.”

He ran a hand through his short, sandy blond hair. The light scruff he sported was a little darker. It hid part of the scar running along the right side of his face, from a fall from his bike when he was ten years old.

Damn, the man was sexy!

“Out of all the treehouses I’ve built, it’s one of my favorites.”

She took a sip of coffee. “Your work is pretty amazing. You saying that makes me want to see it more.”

“It won’t disappoint.” He winked again, and her body warmed. “Just so you’re aware, Kade will be joining us soon. We have some business off the island so he’ll be staying here after that.”

Kade was his best friend and she didn’t mind him joining them one bit. “That’s fine,” she replied as they started to walk back to the house. “We like Kade.”

He laughed lightly. “I’ll be kicking back in my house for the day, so feel free to come by when you’ve dressed and eaten.”

She blushed lightly. Oh God, she wasn’t even wearing a bra! “Count on having company.”

“Good. And now, I shall bid you adieu.” He took her hand and kissed the back of it. “Enjoy your day, Ms. Malone.”

“Why thank you, Mr. Abbett.”

Excerpt:

“Fuck, you’re so wet,” he growled before rubbing the pad of one finger in circles around her aching clit.

Her hand was still stroking up and down his cock, and when his fingers dipped lower, finding her entrance, Bella groaned, biting down on his shoulder. Fuck, she needed his cock inside of her.

“Pants off,” she panted and released him.

In seconds, he had her jeans and panties stripped and his own thrown across the room as he knelt in front of her. The intensity in his eyes was enthralling as he growled again and then lunged at her. She wasn’t frightened, though. On the contrary, she knew she was about to get fucked and fucked good.

His arms scooped her up, and then they were both bouncing on the large king sized bed. Immediately he moved down her body, his hands pushing her legs wide open and up as he settled himself in between them. She didn’t even have a second to anticipate what he was about to do before his mouth descended upon her pussy, licking and nibbling over every single inch. Two thick fingers plunged into her core, thrusting in and out as he sucked her throbbing clit in between his lips. It was a full-on assault of sensations, and before she even knew it, her entire body was coiled in preparation to come, her hands tightening their grip in his hair as she pressed her hips harder into his mouth, and when he bit down on her clit she screamed as the orgasm echoed through her core. The waves of pleasure ebbed over and over again until his mouth finally released her.

“Holy fuck,” she whispered as her eyes closed and she struggled to catch her breath.

“Nah, we’re just getting to that part,” was his cheeky answer as she felt him kiss his way back up her torso until his weight settled in between her thighs.

Bella could feel the throbbing heat of his cock pressed against her pussy. She was so wet now that it easily slid through the swollen lower lips, causing small tremors to pulse through her womb in aftershocks. His arms were on each side of her waist, holding him above her, and she rested her hands at the top of his ass.

“Look at me, little cat.” His voice was still rough with his desire. “I want to see your golden eyes as I take you.”

She slowly opened her eyes, and her lips broke into a lazy smile, her hand coming up to rest against his cheek. She loved the thick stubble she felt there—it had felt even more amazing against the inside of her thighs. His deep green eyes seared her with their gaze, and it felt like he was looking right into her soul as he pulled his hips back and found her entrance. She sighed as he slid his thickness into her slowly as if he was savoring the feel of her around him. It seemed an oddly sentimental moment for such a sexually aggressive male, and not normally one she would appreciate from a bed partner—but something was different with this one.

Once he had pushed himself all the way inside of her, a low rumble had once again begun to come from deep inside his chest as he lifted her legs to slide his arms underneath them. Her breath caught as he pulled her closer, his balls nudging up against her ass, and then he began to move. He pulled all the way out of her snug heat, and then slammed back in, his gaze never leaving hers. Bella’s hands held onto his forearms, grasping at the only part of him she could reach as he began to thrust in and out of her, over and over again. She could feel her fangs dropping as her cougar snarled inside, encouraging the male to move faster, to fuck them harder. His own teeth were now visible as well, and sweat rolled down his face and chest as he worked her. His wide, thick cock didn’t miss a single nerve inside of her, and her body lit up with pleasure. Every stroke seemed to take her higher and the harder he took her, the more she needed.

“Harder, more…” she groaned out, her claws unsheathing from her fingertips to grab into the flesh of his arms.

Suddenly he growled and released her, slipping out of her sheath abruptly, but before she could complain, he had flipped her over onto her hands and knees. He pushed her legs apart and slid back inside, his hands now over her shoulders, using the leverage to pull her back onto his cock at a furious pace. Well, she’d asked for harder, and boy, did she get it.

The intensity of his fucking made her inner animal go crazy, wanting to claw at him, to mark this partner in her fury of lust. Over and over again, his shaft thrust inside of her, and she would have done anything to feel the release of his seed into her waiting center. When one of his talented hands finally moved back down, around her hip and pinched her swollen clit, her pussy spasmed around him, trying with everything it had to take him with her.

With a furious roar, he followed her into bliss, the hot jets of his seed coating her insides. At the same time, she felt his teeth bite deep into her shoulder, and her cat roared as well inside her head, telling her to sink her own teeth into this male—to bite him and mark him as theirs for the entire world to see.

Wait … what the hell did my inner cat just say? Mark him?

Fuck!

“Mine…” he moaned, his cock pushing deep inside of her once more. “You’re mine now, little cat. My mate.”

Double fuck!

About the Author:

Sarah Marsh was born in British Columbia where she still lives, she has only recently began her writing career finding it the perfect outlet for taking the edge off a nine to five office job. She’s been a science fiction and romance junkie for years and when her imagination started to take the characters she’d read about even further in their adventures she decided to try writing something of her own.

Sarah’s also a former pastry chef and spends a lot of time cooking and baking for friends and family as well as painting and knitting. Her biggest weaknesses are animals of any kind…she even loves the ones that wake you up at four in the morning because they can almost see the bottom of their food dish.

When it comes to life in general she’s a big believer that laughter is the best medicine and that there’s no such thing as too much love, which is why she’s such a sucker for a happy ending.

A Recommendation: Raisonne Curse

Good morning 🙂 I am not feeling well today due to a severe sinus headache overnight, but I wanted to share this amazing book with you.

One of my favorite books is Raisonne Curse by Rinda Elliott. I read it when it originally came out from Samhain Publishing, and the publisher is now sadly closed. But Rinda has recently re-released the book (and other books) with new covers, and I’m so happy! It’s a fantastic Southern Gothic paranormal romance, and I do hope it does well because I really want to read the next two books in The Brothers Bernaux Trilogy.

I highly recommend checking this book out, as well as her other books, out 😀

click the cover to purchase from Amazon

BLURB:

For years, Elita Raisonne has been on the run from a family curse that endangered her cousins and killed her mother and aunts. On the heels of yet another painful accident, Elita’s only hope is to trek deep into Louisiana’s Atchafayala Basin and ask the mysterious Bernaux brothers for help.

With one look at the beautiful redhead, Pryor Bernaux recognizes the abilities of a powerful hex worker. An evil, black smudge clings to Elita like a deadly shroud. With the help of his brothers, he could break the curse, but Mercer and Wyatt are away and Pryor can see she’s running out of time. He has no choice but to help the woman who makes him want things he and his brothers swore they’d never have.

The magical backlash is torture and the risk he’s taking threatens his heart. Unfortunately, it also threatens his life.
Keep a cold beverage on hand, because the bayou isn’t all that’s hot and steamy in this book. Deadly hexes, naked spellworking, mouthwatering court-bouillon, and sexy Cajuns will curl your toes…and maybe your hair.
