Hello 🙂 Here is a very short, romantic teaser from Ghosts of Midsummer Theatre

The alarm went off at eleven o’clock. The sound startled her, but before she could reach over and shut it off, Lucas moved over her and shut it off for her. After a few moments, she sat up, and when she did she was made well aware of the bruised ribs and muscles.

“Ye Gods!” she tiredly exclaimed. “That smarts.”

Lucas sat up, moved closer to her, and kissed her on the cheek. “Which part?”

She laughed softly and moaned against the pain it caused her ribs. “Everything.”

“Need help in the shower?” He waggled his eyebrows.

She winked. “As if I’d say no to a shower with you. Though this won’t exactly be the ‘good morning’ I’d planned on giving you today.”

His gaze heated for a moment, and then he kissed her. “We have plenty of time for that when you’re healed. In the meantime, I’ll make this morning as romantic as I can.”

That turned out to be him tenderly helping her wash up in the shower, followed by brushing her hair and then helping her into a pair of jeans, a tank top, and a cardigan. Then, he made her a quick breakfast of French toast with strawberries and few slices of bacon—her favorite breakfast. She was pretty certain that he made the best French toast on the entire East Coast.

Excerpt

The beat of the music made the floor vibrate. The strobe lights flashed, creating a maddening effect. Lee lifted his arms toward the ceiling, and swayed his hips. He mouthed the words to the popular song, allowing the rhythm to wash over him and obliterate any thoughts and worries he still carried from the long day at work.

The animal within him stirred. Tossing and turning, it gathered energy from the pulsing tones and climbed to the surface as if awakening from a long sleep. Lee’s blood pumped faster. His vision refocused, throwing everything into sharp contrast, from the shimmering contents of beverages in clear glasses, to the glittery eye makeup of a random stranger. The club smelled like sweat and alcohol. Bodies pressed together, swaying, moving. Glass shattered somewhere followed by a chorus of “Oh!” and loud laughter. All around, people enjoyed a night out, oblivious to anything more than what lay a few feet from them. Unaware of the hunter in their midst.

Lee licked his lips. His cock twitched. It’d been too long since he’d prowled the night for a bed companion. Focused on his work as manager of the shifter bar Moon Point, sometimes he forgot to have fun, to give into his baser instincts. Normally, he’d go home, relieve himself, and fall asleep until the next day. But he was a puma, a night prowler. And tonight, after he’d closed Moon Point, he knew driving to the countryside and going for a run wouldn’t be enough. He was restless, yearning for something more which he could only describe as the need for company, for the feel of skin against skin, for the gentle caress of caring hands, if only for a few hours.

It was time to hunt.

Lee glanced around and caught the eye of a handsome stud with dark, puppy eyes. He grinned. The stranger looked away, then back at him, a small smile playing on his lips.

Game on.

Swerving his hips, Lee started to make his way toward the man and stopped. The hint of a welcoming scent caressed his senses. A desert breeze mingled with rare wildflowers. A spark lit up his core, sending a shiver of excitement through him. The top of his ears tingled. Lee spun. His heart froze, then resurged, pounding frantically.

Alkaline.

He’d never been formally introduced to the lion shifter, but he knew him on sight. He had to. One didn’t manage a bar in one of the seediest neighborhoods of the city without knowing the local gangs. Besides, Alkaline wasn’t exactly easy to miss. At six-foot-five, with shoulder-length red-blond hair, a matching beard, and slightly tanned skin, he stood out wherever he went.

Lee watched him move. His cock twitched. There was nothing submissive about the male specimen coming in his direction, parting the crowd like some kind of god. Alkaline exuded power, force, and unbridled passion.

Their gazes locked and desire rushed through him. Hell, yes. This was just what he needed. A real challenge. Lee extended his hand and Alkaline took it. The lion pulled him close with a firm tug. Hand on his waist, Alkaline guided him to the music.

Lee sucked in his cheeks to keep from laughing. Hell would freeze over before he was the one following. He pushed back, forcing Alkaline to release him. Then, rolling forward, he placed his hands on Alkaline’s hips and took the lead.

The lion snarled. His amber eyes flashed a warning. Lee didn’t retreat. His cock thickened inside his jeans, rubbing against the material. Abruptly, Alkaline dipped him slightly backwards, threaded his fingers in his hair and held, forcing Lee to stare at him.

His puma growled. Bursting through his defenses, it forced his vision to change. It turned sharper, more attuned to the man in front of him, from the tiny wrinkles in the corner of his eyes, to the small mole above his brow, to the thin coat of sweat which made his face glisten.

Alkaline glared at him. Lee’s blood pressure spiked along with his raging libido. He wouldn’t be the first to drop his gaze. He pursed his mouth. The music changed and someone slammed into them, breaking the connection.

They both moved at the same time. Lips clashed. Hungry. Hard. Lee’s fingers threaded into Alkaline’s long reddish mane and Alkaline rested his hand on the nape of Lee’s neck, bringing him closer. Their tongues entwined, desperately seeking for more, until the air ran out of their lungs and they broke apart panting. For a second, they gauged each other, and Lee wondered if he looked as bewildered and as consumed by lust as the other man.

Just when he was about to speak, Alkaline grabbed his hand and placed it over his erection. Lee groaned.

“I need to have you, now,” Alkaline said.

BLURB:

Rune is the grandson of Thor, and just as strong. Exiled to the realm of Earth for nearly killing his brother–it was a little misunderstanding– he has to find a way to redeem himself so he can get back to Asgard. And when he lands—literally—in the bed of a fiery redhead with an FBI badge, he realizes that she may be the key to going home. But helping Liv hunt a killer has one big consequence—chemistry. He can’t keep his hands off her, and there’s no way they can ever be together.

Six years ago, FBI Special Agent Liv Winter’s best friend was murdered. Since then, she’s taken a two-week vacation around the anniversary of the death to try and solve the case. She’s used every available resource. Yet, her friend’s killer is still on the loose. She refuses to give up—willing to do almost anything to bring the person to justice.

Apparently, almost anything includes trusting a god. And while she might need Rune’s help with her case, there’s no way she’ll ever trust him with her heart.

EXCERPT:

He’d never fallen so fast through the Gate—everything was blurred, and a buzzing penetrated his mind like a sharp, jagged knife. Was this part of the punishment for nearly killing his twin brother? Odin hadn’t told him where he would be sent; Rune just hoped the pain would stop once he got there.

A bright light jetted toward him from the end of the tunnel, blinding him. Nausea swam through him as he broke through the barrier into the realm of Earth. A few seconds later he impacted with something soft, and sank down a few inches.

A woman’s scream broke through his haze.

A fist to the side of his face brought him abruptly back to himself. The power behind it rattled his brain as he fell sideways onto a hard floor.

“Who the fuck are you, and what are you doing in my room?” She didn’t sound as scared as much as strong-willed, something he was used to in both humans and goddesses.

He started to stand, but the click of a gun made him slow his actions. “I am not here to harm you, my lady.”

Turning to face the person he landed on, he was slightly taken aback by the tall, curvy, red-haired beauty. She stood straight, her gun aimed at his forehead. The bullet wouldn’t kill him, but it would take a healer of the gods to make him right and restore his mind.

She narrowed her eyes. “Who are you?”

He bowed his head then met her sea-blue eyes. “I am Rune, grandson of Thor.”

She huffed out a sigh, lowering her weapon. But he could clearly see that she’d pull the trigger before he could conjure whatever power his great-grandfather Odin had left him.

“The Son of Thunder? Are you friggin’ kidding me?”

“No,” he replied, not surprised that she’d used the nickname given to him by humans centuries back.

“What are you doing here?”

“Odin sent me to Earth as punishment, and I cannot return home until I’ve redeemed myself.”

She put a hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow. “And that has what to do with me?”

He answered, “I don’t know. The journey through the Gate was harsher and faster than I’ve ever experienced. I should have landed miles from any human—that’s what I understood from Odin.”

“How so?”

Persistent. She showed no fear toward him and kept her eyes on him, watching his slightest twitch like a predator. And the way she held the gun loosely, but firmly, ready to fire at a moment’s notice…he’d bet good money on her being law enforcement.

“He told me, quite clearly, that when I entered the Gate I would be have to earn the right to be near humans and redeem myself. The hundreds of times I’ve heard him say that, those he punished were sent to the most desolate places on Earth.”

Her eyebrows rose. “So, you don’t know where you are?”

“No.”

She nodded, clicking the safety back on the gun. She was a beautiful woman, her hair a tangled mess, her legs long, her porcelain skin smooth save a scar on the right side from her temple to her jaw then over to the left side of her mouth, like an L.

What gave you that scar?

“You are in the Adirondacks, in New York. The middle of nowhere, though not what one would call desolate. But you landed in my second home, a cabin the woods.”

“The nearest neighbor—”

“Is a half hour away in pretty much all directions.”

Rune was confused at this turn of events, as Odin never made this kind of mistake…to his knowledge, anyway. How had he ended up in this woman’s home?

“I’m sorry, but you can’t stay here. I’m…” She trailed off, taking a deep breath. “I can’t have company right now. That said, it is the middle of the night. You can sleep on the couch, but tomorrow you’ll have to find another place to lodge.”

“I apologize for the intrusion.”

“Thank you. Follow me.”

He followed her out of her bedroom, enjoying the view as they walked. A scent lingered behind her, something crisp like an autumn morning. Intoxicating.

“It’s pretty comfy to sleep on, but you’re about six inches too tall to really fit,” she said as they stopped near the couch.

A blanket was folded at the other end of the couch, a pillow atop it. “Do you have company coming?”

“No. I slept on it the other night,” she replied, not elaborating. “The bathroom is on the other side of the kitchen, through the laundry room. There’s a nightlight on in there.”

He briefly looked over at the kitchen, seeing the soft light emanating from the bathroom.

“Good night, Rune. Sleep well.”

As she turned to go, he realized she knew something about him that he didn’t about her. “My lady?”

She turned to him. “Yes?”

“What is your name?”

Her shoulders relaxed.

“Liv. My name is Liv Winter.”

Beautiful name. “Good night, Liv.”

She gave a nod and then continued to her bedroom.

He was fairly certain his sleep would be filled with her scent and image. Someone had certainly done well when they’d made Liv Winter.

Ray Miller finds his calling in the Army, but an explosion in Afghanistan takes his left eye and his career. Set adrift, he turns to alcohol, until an old army buddy shows up and offers Ray a job. Now Ray has a secret identity. He puts his combat skills to use as Cyclops, a paid assassin who rids the government of bad guys.

Then, one day a chance meeting sets off sparks, and Ray falls for a man who could destroy him. Hooking up with a cop is reckless, but the sex rocks Ray’s world. How long can he hide his secrets before the hitman becomes the target?

Excerpt:

Mission accomplished. A simple in and out job, take aim at the target and pull the trigger. Now it was time to vanish, lie low and keep my head down. I usually played by the rules, but tonight I didn’t want to be alone. Danger is an aphrodisiac and I was one anxious horndog. I didn’t sniff trouble in the wind, so I went to Jared’s apartment, where I could keep my head down and suck his cock at the same time.

My digital car clock said three am when I pulled into a dark spot behind Jared’s building. He’d be asleep, so I let myself in with the key he’d given me. I shed my clothes in the living room and left them on the floor. I wanted to slip into bed beside Jared and surprise him. Quiet as a church mouse, I opened the bedroom door. A floorboard creaked as I stepped over the threshold. The light came on, blinding me for a few seconds.

Jared sat up and looked daggers at me. “Do you know what time it is, Ray?”

I grinned sheepishly. “Time to get busy?”

“What were you doing until 3 am?”

“Missing you.”

“Right.” Jared threw a pillow at me. “Go home, Ray.”

I picked up the pillow and walked over to the bed. “Don’t be such a sourpuss.” I tucked the pillow behind his back. Yawning, I scrubbed a hand through my regulation cut, two inches of hair on the top of my head, and tapered down the sides and back. I like to leave a little for Jared to pull on. The thought made my dick even harder.

Jared lay down and put an arm over his face. “I have to get up for work in a few hours. Lock the door on your way out.”

I sat on the bed and slid my hand under the sheet. Jared’s limp dick didn’t budge when I made contact. Damn, he really was pissed. “Okay, go to sleep. I’ll just lie next to you.”

“I don’t want you here, Ray.”

My temper rose, but I tamped it down. I have a short fuse but I try to lengthen it around Jared. A few slow deep breaths calmed me down. I pulled Jared’s arm back and stared at his face. His eyes were closed and it was hard to tell if he meant what he said. “Look at me, babe.”

Reluctantly, he opened his eyes. God, he was gorgeous. Honey brown hair framed high cheekbones and emerald green eyes. “Come on, babe, you know you don’t mean it.”

Jared and I had been together for eight months, and I’d gotten used to having a steady fuck, or as steady as it could be in my line of work. I didn’t see Jared as much as he would have liked, and the longer we were together, the harder it was to explain my absences. But, nothing worthwhile came easy and I was determined to keep him. I liked knowing Jared was there when I needed him. And right then, I needed him bad.

Saturday Snippet: Ghosts of Midsummer Theatre

Happy Saturday! Here is a snippet from Ghosts of Midsummer Theatre 🙂

AMAZON ~ EVERNIGHT PUBLISHING ~ BOOKSTRAND

copyright@Libby Bishop

Once they had what they needed, Arabella led the way back to the stage. Lucas opened the door for her and she passed by him. The chill from the ghost had disappeared, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t around. Waiting, watching.

She made her way to the center of the stage and then scanned the seating area just to see if anyone was present. Nothing appeared on the screen, so she called out, “Are you seriously going to hide now? After all that icy build-up during the daylight hours, you’re going to let me down?”

A low growl spread through the area, making her hair stand on end.

“I’m not afraid of you,” she said, “but since we are in a theatre, where’s my show?”

“You are crazy sometimes, Arabella Pierce,” Lucas whispered from behind her. His flashlight hovered by their feet.

She smiled but kept her eyes on the thermal screen. To say that she wanted the dark ghost to come out and play was an understatement. If he was going to taunt her, touch her with his cold fingers, the least he could do was introduce himself. She didn’t take kindly to such moves by a spirit.

“Unwanted.”

“I heard that,” Lucas whispered.

Arabella saw a cold ball form on the screen. The ball began to take the shape of a man, and as it did a knot of discomfort twisted in her gut. That was normal reaction for her as a medium when a dark ghost was around. His true presence, with all of its energy, caused unease to course through her.

“Yeah, you’ve already told me that. How about telling me your name?”

“Kristoff.”

The woman’s voice in her mind startled her. Arabella turned around quickly, which made Lucas jump out of the way so she didn’t ram the camera into him.

“Sorry,” she said to him. Then, she addressed the woman who’d spoken. “Katrina, is that you?”

“Yes. He isn’t so frightening—just a show-off.”

The taunt was clear in Katrina’s tone. In response, Kristoff growled again, and the lights flickered on and off for several seconds before the area went dark again.

“See? Throwing a tantrum.”

Arabella understood that Kristoff was a dark ghost, and he had a good deal of power. But with Katrina’s prodding, she realized one other thing—Kristoff was bored. No ghost, especially dark ones, would be so easily egged on unless they’d been trapped somewhere for far too long. She turned around, aiming the camera where she’d last seen his spirit. But he’d moved, and it took her a moment to find him in the right side balcony seats.

“Are you bored, Kristoff? No one here for decades to push, pull, or oppress?” she asked. “What’s keeping you here, then?”

The growl deepened, and the cold figure on the camera stood from his seat.

“Ara—”

Every light in the auditorium exploded at the same time. Instinct had Arabella ducking down and covering her head and tucking the camera against her chest. Lucas was suddenly around her, covering her even more.

When the last of the glass fell to the ground, Lucas rose, which allowed her to do so as well. She handed the camera to him, and then used her flashlight to walk to the front of the stage. Lucas stood beside her so she could see the thermal screen.

“I told you that you don’t scare me, Kristoff!”

Her voice echoed in such a large area. As her echo faded, the entire thermal screen began to turn blue, and as that blue grew closer to the stage, goose bumps formed on her arms. A light, cold breeze blew over the stage as the coldness reached them.

Then, the entire room began to shake, and a resounding roar vibrated the air. Wind kicked up, blowing loose strands across her face. Her hands became frigid and she could feel her cheeks getting wind-burned.

“I am no coward!” Kristoff roared. “Get out and play with someone else!”

“You best leave,” Katrina said with irritation. “He’s no good to you like this.”

Moving against the strengthening wind, Arabella began to move toward the door. Lucas grabbed her hand and they used the flashlight to lead them off the stage and back out into the lighted hall.

The moment the door closed, the roar died and the cold eased away.
